[Hmm... feels like this should be a pool dice check rather than skill, but, we'll roll with it this time around. Regain that many Wounds.]
Morning, the next day. Alemana's body ached from head to toe as he stirred from his sleep. The sun was in his eyes long before he opened them, yet, rather than finding himself resting against the warm fur of Kyubimon, he instead found a makeshift pillow under his head, and the smell of chestnuts and fish over a fire. Across from him, Ike and Gazimon were sleeping on top of each other in the most bizarre pretzel one could get without become erogenous. And then there was Renamon. The vulpine was knelt in front of the fireplace, using coconuts for bowls. For the first time, Alemana saw the digimon struggling to stay awake, almost nodding off as she went about her work.

Alemana would get up as quiet as he could.. and he would gently reach out for her.. a hand gently smoothing one of the quill like tufts of fur on her shoulder.
“Morning.. were you up all night?”

Renamon's breath hitched, tensing up as her pseudo-nap was disturbed. Glancing at her tamer, she reclined into a smile. "I'm alright," she said. "Go back to sleep. These'll be finished when you wake up."

Alemana would gently rub her shoulders, and then he wrapped his arms around her belly. “No it’s okay.. I could take over! You need sleep too Rena..”

The vulpine sighed, stroking Al's head. But even she couldn't hide the exhaustion in her silver-blue eyes. Given all that had happened, it was a miracle she was still conscious.
"Well... I guess I can let you take over for a minute or two."

“Yeah! Don’t worry, leave everything to me! You always do so much..” and confident no one was watching.. he would give her nose a peck
“And that’s payback for licking me in front of Ike..!”

Renamon opened her mouth, but rather than speak she closed her eyes and shook her head, chuckling.
"If you're unsure of anything," she said, stifling a yawn. Trading places with Al, she laid herself down on the boy's pillow as she turned her back to face the fire. "Good morning, Alemana."

He would chuckle, and wave her concerns off
“I know, I know! Sleep well, okay Renamon?”

"Mmh~"
[Alright, I wanna saaaay... roll Survival]

It looked simple enough. Rotate the fish skewers so they evened out over the fire, and check on the coconuts to see if the chestnuts inside them were boiling. And to Al's credit... it was! Nothing was burnt, nor over done. And soon after the chestnuts were finished, people began waking up. He could tell by the sound of Gazimon's sniffing.
"Hey boss," he mumbled. "You smell that?" The chimera's red eyes shot wide open, along with Ike's as the two uncoiled themselves and sat up right beside the fireplace. Too easy was it to imagine rivers falling from their mouths, salivating as they ogled and awed at the fish.

“Oh hey, morning. You guys can thank Renamon.. she’s the one who did most of this, I just finished up! But uh.. I’d appreciate it if you guys were quiet.. she’s trying to sleep.” And he would set aside and store Renamon’s portions.. and went to eat his.

[I will abstain from making you roll for stealth. xD ]
Just before Al could finish, the other two were already tearing apart their fish-kababs, Ike hammering his chest as he nearly choked on the food before chasing it down with coconut water. Gazimon, meanwhile, had no such gag-reflex, and made little effort in swallowing every last chestnut and scrap of fish he had before chomping down on his coconut bowl!

“Well uh.. glad you enjoy it,” he would then laugh as he sat beside the curled up Renamon, softly petting her while he finished his own portion

Long, drawn out sighs escaped Ike and Gazimon as they finished, the two leaning against each other as they held their stomachs, smiling. All that was missing was a disproportionately-sized belch.
According to the clock on his digivice, it was fifteen minutes later when Renamon began moving again. In a slow, fluid motion, she went from laying on her side to sitting on her knees, facing the group.
"Did I oversleep?" she asked, rubbing her eyes.

Alemana would give her a look as he then glanced at the clock.
“No, actually. You’ve barely been asleep half an hour. Aren’t you still tired?”

"It can wait," she said, taking her meal. "Right now, I need to see how the food turned out."
Her posture perfect, the vulpine sank her teeth into the fish, smiling as she chewed.
"Well done, Alemana," she mused. "You did a good job with the fish."

Alemana beamed at her, though he rubbed his arm bashfully
“I didn’t really do much.. it was mostly you!”

Renamon chuckled, setting down her kebab for a moment to try the chestnuts. Soft murmurings followed with every bite. And after she supped the coconut water, she gave her of approval.
Ike took the moment to chime in. "So where exactly are we going from here?" he asked. "Is it far away?"

Turning his attention to Ike, he would nod. “A little. We’re gonna be heading south-west from here. Hopefully though, this person got my message and we will meet them halfway. After that.. we’ll head to Kuku- Menehunemon’s place and plan out next moves there.”

"That's it? How'll we know if we pass 'em or not?"
"How did you find us in the tunnels?" asked Renamon. "The digivices seems able to communicate with each other in real-time. If we follow the signal, we should find whoever's holding the third digivice."
"Assumin' they ain't dropped it or got mugged," reasoned Gazimon.
Renamon's eyes narrowed on the chimera, scaring off further word from him.

“If they dropped it, they either didn’t know what they had.. or they got caught. Either way, we’ll never find them if that’s the case.
“But hopefully,” he then consulted the map to see if they had moved any.

According to the digivice, the other tamer was roughly just under one and a half miles due south-west.

“They would make their way to us.” Alemana said with a big smile. “They’re only a mile and a half away! I say we should pack up and try to meet them.” He then looked at Renamon
“You feeling good enough to travel?”
And wonderingly, he would tap on their icon, hoping his digivice would be able to connect with the third kids device.

Tapping the screen, Alemana managed to bring up a window with video-feed. Unfortunately, it was the same blizzard of static white noise that had plagued him when trying to contact Ike.
"Always," mused the vulpine. "Just as soon as I've finished, we can go."
Gazimon's ears drooped. "Hey, uh, we're not walkin' the whole way... are we?"

He would stroke one of Rena’s ears in response. “Gotcha !” And he would look at Gazimon
“I dunno, can you fly?”

"Oh yeah, REAL funny," said the chimera. "Boss, can you believe this guy?"
"I dunno, Gaz," said Ike, the tamer leaning back with his arms behind his head. "Maybe if you digivolved, you could."
Gazimon gawped. "What's THAT supposed to mean?!" he said.
Ike slammed his hands down on his knees as he sat forward. "You heard me!" he said. "Digivolve! Show these losers what we're made of!"
"Bu-"
"How hard can it be?! You got in a good nap, right?"
"Well yeah, bu-"
"And you're stomach's full to burst, right?!"
"I mean I guess b-!"
"Then quit screwin' around and DIGIVOLVE!!"
Ike was already on his feet when he pumped his fists and settled into a rallying pose, the human looming over the now squirming Gazimon.
"C'mon, Gaz! Grow some wings and KICK SOME ASS!!"

Alemana would look at Renamon, a little concerned
“Hey.. I don’t think it works like that. You can’t force it I don’t think! It just has to happen naturally!”

"See?" said Ike to Gazimon. "All in the reflex, man! YOU GOT THIS!!"
The chimera looked back and forth between the tamers, even as Ike continued rallying at the top of his lungs. Al noticed, however, when Gazimon was no longer focused on him and Ike, but on Renamon. The purple-gray mammal's eyes narrowed, a scowl digging into his face.
"Alright, I'LL DO IT!" he huffed. "I'll digivolve right now! Show YOU guys what I'm all about."
Storming away from the campfire, Gazimon picked out a spot in view of everyone, the sound of Ike's cheering drowning out even the noise of the nearby jungle as the chimera took a fight stance. Over and over, Ike chanted "DIGIVOLVE! DIGIVOLVE! GA-ZI-MON!". The rookie digimon pumped his fists as he bent his knees. Gnashing his teeth, he growled, the timber and sound growing louder and harder. He pulled back his head, his tail standing on end! AND--!!
Nothing. Gazimon through his claws towards the heavens and yelled as hard as he could, his voice trailing off as he held the pose. And just like that, everything was quiet again. Both tamer and digimon hanging their heads over slumped shoulders.
"Let's... work on it," reasoned Renamon.

Alemana would watch this, looking back and forth between them as they chanted and tried to Digivolve only for.. nothing to happen. He would turn out on his best smile as he held out his hands. “Hey don’t worry, you’ll get it sooner or later. No use in trying to brute force your way into it. Like my dad likes to say, a watched pot never boils!” He then looked at Renamon “Besides.. a mile isn’t all that far. Think of if like a nature walk!”

Ike glanced back at Alemana with a long face, only to shrug and look away like nothing had happened. "Yeah, sure," he said, slipping his hands into his pockets. "It's whatever. Gaz's just having an off-day. He'll digivolve."
As the two tamers went to help Renamon clearup camp, Gazimon sat down on his knees, sighing. Hears drooping, he looked up at the sky one more time, noticing a flock of pink, bird-like digimon flying towards the highland forests in the distance.
"Flyin', huh?" he said to himself. Grumbling, he forced himself back on his feet, making his way back to help the others.

In a combined effort, Alemana and co. cleared camp in record time. From there, the journey to find the third tamer began in earnest; scaling the cliffs down into the valley below. Not wanting a repeat of yesterday - and because the pathway down was so narrow - Renamon abstained from digivolving into Kyubimon. Instead, she worked in tandem with Gazimon, jumping between narrow ledges one at a time while he dug tunnels through otherwise impassible slopes. According to the clocks on Al and Ike's digivices, the managed to reach the ground in two-to-three hours. Yet in that time, the map marker for the third digivice hadn't budged in the slightest. Still one and a half miles away.
"I think it's a trap," said Ike, looking over his map. "Either they were waiting for us to come all the way down here, or they got caught."
"Tell it like it is, boss."
"Pessimism won't get you anywhere," mused Renamon. "That being said... caution would be advisable."

“We aren’t going to give up now, either way. If they are leading us into a trap.. well they made a mistake. We’ll rescue that kid!”

"I'll scout ahead," said Renamon. "Alemana, keep me updated via digivice. I'll try to be back before long."
Turning away, the vulpine melted into the background, the solemn note of a flute playing in the distance.
Both Ike and Gazimon gasped.
"Sh-she disappeared!" said the tamer.
Gazimon slapped a paw over his eyes, growling. "Oh great, AND she can turn invisible?! What a rip!"

Alemana would give her cheek a scratch and gave her a thumbs up
“Go get em, Renamon!” And he would laugh at their reactions when she disappeared.
“Renamon is pretty amazing,” and then he would turn to look at Gazimon
“But you’re amazing in your own way too! You’ve kept Ike alive this whole time, and you didn’t need to Digivolution to do it!” He would then look at Ike.
“You guys have your own style, that’s the important thing. Me and Renamon can do things you can’t do, and you can do things we can’t do. That’s how a good team is built, you get people who have different talents!”

[Hmmm... alright, roll Persuasion.]

The two stared at Al in silence, giving each other a side-long glance before shrugging.
"So... what did she mean by you keeping her updated?" asked Ike.

Feeling a little smug now, seeing he knew a few things more then Ike did even though hr had been here longer.. hr would hold up his digivice.
“Well there’s a tab that should connect you with your digimon, like you’re calling them on the phone. Give it a try!”

Hearing this, Ike inspected his digivice, tapping on the screen.
"Oh hey, Gaz's under my phone number," he said, before putting it to his ear. "Testing. Testing. One, two, three."
It was deja vu all over again for Al as he saw Gazimon give the same face Renamon had made when he had first used the feature.
"Gck-! L-loud and clear, boss!" said the chimera, whose own voice echoed through the receiver of Ike's digivice.
"Ah sweet! No blue-tooth or earbuds required!"

“See? Pretty cool right? That reminds me,”
He would then connect with Renamon
“Hey Rena.. found anything yet?” He asked, trying not to be too loud- he didn’t want to hurt her brain.

"++Nothing yet++" said the vulpine. "++I can hear running water, though. Might be a river. Vegetation here's heavy, too.++"
"Hey, check this out," said Ike. "My digivice's got your number on it, too, Al."

“Got it.. can you see the map? I’m gonna bring it up.”
He would then hit the map icon, before glancing at Ike
“Yeah? Well I mean.. I’ve contacted you before.. maybe your Digivice saved the contact info of mine? Or maybe it’s because we’re working together.. I dunno- there something to ask Kuku when we get back to him.”
He then glanced at the map, was Renamon also visible on it?

Sure enough, there was Renamon. Her purple-yellow arrowhead nearing a quarter of the way between Al and the third tamer's map marker.
"++I'm not seeing anything++" she said. "++Is the map up?++"

That made him frown, and he fiddled with some options
“Can you see it? Well if you can’t.. keep going forward.. you’re on the right path.”

Sifting through the digivice's every conceivable option, it was only after Alemana tapped on the vulpine app that he found something worth pausing over. A new window had opened up. On it, a grid-model rendering of Renamon stood against a blue background. Everything from a her pulse to her current state of health to even her measurements and abilities were listed to one side!

“Oh, we’ll that’s pretty useful. I’m guessing you can’t see the map still, huh?”
He then paused
“Can you see any other digimon?”

"++I see a couple of Kamemon, a Floramon... wait, something's wrong++"
Al read an elevated pulse on Renamon's stats.
"++What is this mist?++" she whispered. "++Hang on, I'm falling back++"
Renamon's arrowhead was suddenly replaced by a blinking red symbol - an exclamation point inside of a triangle inside of a ring.
Ike and Gazimon were now standing on either side of Alemana, staring at the digivice as they listened to the feed.
"++Damn it!++" cursed Renamon. "++I can't see anything in this!++"

Alemana’s heart began beating quicker as well, and he would look at the warning sign.
“You gotta get to get somewhere safe! Try to find something to use as a reference point !”

The vulpine's heartbeat skipped as everyone heard her grunt. That there was no sign of damage was the only consolation as Ike and Gazi gripped at Al's arms.
"++It's following me!++" she said. In the distance, the group heard birds crying as they took flight before a thunderous *CRASH*. "++I'm going to try losing it in the river!++"

Oh no. Alemana felt dread like he hadn’t in a long time, and his grip on the digivice was matched only by Gazimon’s and Ike’s.
“Do it! You’re gonna.. gonna make it!”
He had faith in her, she hadn’t let him down before.. he just knew she wouldn’t now. So he put his trust in her. He had no choice.

All eyes were on Alemana's digivice. No word came from Renamon. The only thing Al knew was that she was still alive, and that her pulse was higher than before. As for the map, the flashing icon remained on screen, flickering all over the area ahead of the group.
"She... she made it," reasoned Ike. "People always get their hearts going when they dive underwater."

His eyes were glued to the screen, one hand clenched into a fist and white knuckled as his breath quickened, pupils dilated as he saw the warning icons.. but her cursor was flicking everywhere like crazy.
“Renamon,”
And then he pulled away, and began running towards her flickering icon. He ignored any shouts for him to stop, he was in full flight mode as he tried to make his way to her.
“Renamon! Renamon! Sis!!”
His voice grew louder, more panicked.. heart racing as he blindly dashed forward !

Charging into the forest, Alemana snapped every twig and branch that barred his way. He nearly tripped over himself as he ducked past vines and grass-covered mounds. When mist began to cling to the ground, he knew he was getting closer, but all too soon the path became veiled in a thick grey fog, and the sounds of the forest became muted in every direction...

Alemana slowed, and it was a good thing he did that, otherwise he would’ve smacked face first into a tree in the fog. Panting.. he would consult the map, his eyes darting up from it every few seconds as it tried to get his bearings.
“Rena!! Where are you?!”
And he would start moving again.. his breathing coming out in more frantic puffs.. this was all horribly familiar in a way.

The map revealed nothing. Worse, it no longer showed which way was north, instead showing more of the warning sign flashing across the window.

Looking left, right, forward, back.. his worry was growing even more intense.
“C’mon.. cmon you piece of junk!! Renamon!!”

The rustling of leaves drew Alemana's attention. Heavy footfalls soon echoed in the fog, alongside the hollow clattering of metal. Something was coming. Something big.

He would slowly look in the direction of the sound.. his eyes wide.
“That can’t be Renamon..”
And then he started running once again

*Rollz*
A hissing noise sounded as Al made a break for it. Suddenly, he could hear the footsteps behind him growing faster, pounding at the ground!
[Roll Athletics]

If there was one thing that gave people wings, it was fear. Even as fog blanketed every bush and tree, Alemana managed to hurdle, turn, even tumble through the foliage without losing ground.
The sound of pursuit was starting to fade...

And as it started to grow fainter and fainter.. he would slow as his legs started to give out.. skidding to a stop as he then hid behind a tree… body shaking from stress and an impending adrenaline crash.
“Renamon.. “
He then curled up into a ball.. breath shaking.

For a moment, everything was still... then, without warning, Alemana rolled backwards, the tree he had been leaning on seemingly losing all sense of resistance! The result? He found himself staring up at a dimly lit, cylindrical room. His feet seemingly on the other-side of the wall he'd just came through!

He gasped.. and then would look around the room.. pulling his legs in.
“The heck..?”

Moments after pulling himself fully inside, the boy heard a voice on the other side.
"Where did it go?" it said, a low rumble in its words. "The human. It was right here..."
"You lost it?" came another voice. "Chaaaa, spread out! It can't have gotten far."
"I can hardly see a thing in this accursed fog. The air tastes of rotting mulch, and the heat of warmblood so muted it blends in with the trees!"

Alemana would stay still, arms around his knees as he listened, trying to steady his breathing. He glanced at the map, eyes slightly bleary.
-
As if by magic, the digivice's map was normal again, clear as day. On it, Al could see Renamon's arrowhead was south-south-west of him, some eight-hundred yards. He could also see the indigo-blue arrowhead for Ike, alongside Gazimon's lilac-gray. They were north-west by three yards.
"No excuses," hissed a voice. "Find the human, and take it prisoner. The Green Lady wants them alive."

He would gently touch Ike’s icon, whispering into the digivice
“Hide.. digimon are looking for us..”
And he was then hit with a thought.
He looked if he saw the digivice signal of the third kid

The third tamer's icon was a mile away, in the same direction as Renamon.
[Roll Stealth]

[rolling= 6 6 5 1= 18]
He then whispered to Renamon, telling her where to go.

*Rollz*
There came a hiss. "What was that?"
"What was what?"
The first voice didn't answer. Not immediately. A long, drawn out pause hung over Al like a sword ready to fall.
"...Hmph, must have been the wind."

He covered his mouth, waiting for them to leave.
Please.. just move on.. don’t find the other two

The voices soon quietened down, and in the wake of their leaving brought a rush of wind that covered the sound of their rushing footsteps. Judging from the map, they were heading northwards.

He let a breath of relief.. and he waited a couple minute before he peeked out of the tree

Were anyone to have looked in Alemana's direction, they would have seen the most bizarre impression of Woodmon, the boy's face seemingly growing out of the trunk of the tree he was hiding in. As for him, all he could see was more of the heavy fog that was blanketing the forest. There were no signs of whatever creatures that had been talking, either.

He would sigh again.. and with a glance at his map.. he would try to head in the direction of both the digivice and Renamon. He had to trust that Ike and Gazimon could take care of themselves for the time being..

And so Al took to a jog's pace, conserving what energy he had as he hurried away from the scene. To his good fortune, whatever had been jamming his map was no longer an issue, though there was no telling whether the case was the same for the others.
Go left...
Alemana stopped in his tracks. He had just reached a split in the path. To the left was more forest, decorated with tiny white flowers. To the right, he could see a river just over some bushes.

He would look at both paths.. and then talk into the digivice “… Renamon?”

There came no response...
-
“…Please.. say something..” Alemana whispered.. his eyes suddenly growing misty
“Please tell me you’ve almost found them.. so you can come back-“

*Rollz*
Looking at the map, Renamon's marker flickered in place... but this time, it came back in a different locale. Due south-east by twenty yards.

He gasped, and then he would turn.. and begin jogging in that direction
“Renamon..!”

Down the flowering path he went, his digivice his compass. At last, he came to a small clearing where the fog was thin. There, he saw her, Renamon, sitting with her back against a tree. When Alemana stepped on a twig, the vulpine's ears twitched and her eyes shot open. Her fur standing on end as she readied for an attack. All of that melted away when she saw who it was.
"Alemana," she said, her words a sigh that turned to shock, before she launched off the trunk of the tree to grab and hold the boy in her arms. "Alemana, you're safe!" she said, refusing to let go. "Thank the gods!"
As the vulpine spoke, Alemana noticed what Renamon had been using for a footstool just moments ago. Laying in a heap, face down on the ground, was a bipedal reptile, its body dressed in a tribal skirt and wristbands decorated with scrimshaw and dark leather.

He saw her.. and he ran towards her as fast as his legs could carry him.. and he would practically collide with her as they came together for an embrace.
“I-I thought I’d lose you forever..!” He said, muffled and voice cracking.
For a long moment he just held onto her her.. before looking at her.. prisoner?”
“What happened, Rena?”

Loosening her grip, Renamon followed Al's eyes. "That? After the fog rolled in, I tried racing to the river," she said. "Once I actually got there, it and some of its friends jumped out of the water. I managed to lose most of them, but this one was persistent."

“Oh I see.. well the others are working for the Green Lady.. and they want us alive.”
He then looked at the prone digimon
“You thinking what I’m thinking, Rena?”

The fox gave the boy a smirk. Turning around, she sauntered over to the reptile. Kneeling beside it, she began tapping on the strange metal visor it was wearing. Like a cross between a VR headset and an eye-mask that wrapped under its snout instead the back of its head.
"Hello~" she whispered. "Wake up, big fellah~"
The reptile growled, stirring in place as Renamon continued tapping on its mask.

And Al would wait beside her.. a stick in hand as he poked at its foot with the end of the stick
“C’mon.. got some questions for you.”

The lizardman continued to stir, but say nothing other than a growl. When it proved too stubborn, Renamon winked at Al as she about-faced. From there, her tail began swishing side-to-side, teasing at the reptile digimon's nose. It gritted its teeth, the sound of it hold its breath betraying it more than the balling of its fists. Renamon's made no effort to hide the composed smile on her face, her tail moving all the faster as the lizardman's back arched.
"ACH-CHFFFF!!" it sneezed. "CHAAAA!! Wretched fox! You will get NO answers from me!"
"Technically, we just did," mused Renamon, causing the reptile to wince.
"I should've bitten your tail off while I could."

Al watched, stifling a laugh as the lizard sneezed, and he would then point his stick at them. “And you better spill more, because we’ve got some questions for you, lizard boy.”

"A human," it hissed. "Little more than a hatchling, and it presumes to demand anything. Do your worst. My brothers will come for me, and then we'll see who is the greater threat!"

Alemana would furrow his brow.
“Renamon? I think our guest still has a stuffy nose.. care to help him clear it?”
-
"With pleasure," said the vixen. Once again, her tail went to work, and despite the best efforts of the reptile, every time it made to take a bite out of the long, voluminous fur, Renamon lifted it out of reach. If anything, this only made the sneezing all the easier, as the lizardman fired off several times in a row.
"ENOUGH!!" it snarled. "I am a warrior! I demand you cease this humiliation at once!"

Alemana would hold up his hand, for her to stop
“Will you tell us what we want to know if we stop?”

[Hmm... roll either Manipulation or Persuasion with a +1]

Even with the mask on, the reptile's glare was easy enough to read from the scowl on its face.
"Fine," it said. "It'll make little difference anyway."

Al would look at the digimon, and for a moment he then had a lightbulb moment.

“Okay, Mo’omon, here’s the deal. We’re gonna ask some questions and you’re gonna answer truthfully. If ya don’t.. you can say goodbye to having properly working sinuses again. We clear?”

"Crystal," it snarled, bearing its dagger-like teeth.

“Good. Now, what are you guys doing out here?”

"Playing matchmaker," it said, only for Renamon to turn on the tail. Mo'omon stifled a sneeze before changing his answers. "Hunting humans!"

“Okay, we’re getting somewhere. Have you caught any- specifically within the last three days? And don’t be cute, we caught you- not the other way around.”

Biting back a retort, the reptile complied. "We did," it said out of the corner of its mouth. "But it got away. We've been hunting it for the past two days along the river."

He felt a swell of relief, and he then looked at Renamon, and would then look back at Mo’omon
“Well you don’t have to worry, we’ll find them. We just won’t tell you when we do. Why are you hunting humans? What’s the purpose?”

"Oh yeah, right--" it started, only to flinch as Renamon's tail rose up. "I don't know! The Green Lady told us to--I SWEAR!!"

He held up his hand again, and then poked his nose with the stick
“And who is the Green Lady? What is the Green Lady? Is she a digimon?”

"Of course she's a digimon! Do you think we'd WILLINGLY serve a human?!"
"You don't sound so sure yourself," said Renamon. "Have you ever seen her?"
As if a turtle in full retreat, Mo'omon was actively trying to force its head back into its torso. And failing.

Alemana would pause in thought, glancing at Renamon. Sure, there was no way to prove that the Green Lady WASNT a digimon.. but she had a good point. If it was a digimon, well that didn’t really change anything; they still had to confront her if they wanted to go home. But if she WAS human.. well the mission was the same.. but the implications that arose made him very uncomfortable. Putting on a brave face however, he leaned close to Mo’omon
“Digimon or not, you’re gonna tell the Green Lady a message. Tell her that we’re gonna rescue these kids, we’re gonna go home, and if she has a problem with that then she has to deal with Alemana Sonson and Renamon.”

"...You're insane," said Mo'omon. "You'll be dragged to lay at her feet while your servant is made into a scarf."
"That's a funny way of thanking us for sparing your life," mused Renamon.

Alemana smiled at Renamon, and quite brazenly hugged her in front of Mo’omon
“Besides, let her try. We’re stronger together than anyone who fights alone. That’s how Ohana works.”

The lizard glanced between the fox and human, only to let out a humorless snort as it looked away.
"That reminds me," said Renamon. "What happened to Ike and Gazimon?"

“And you got one thing wrong, Mo’omon She’s not my servant, she’s my partner.”
His cool moment was immediately ruined by her question though.
“Aw crap. They’re somewhere in the woods-“ he then gave a nervous smile
“I’m sure they’re fine, I mean, how bad can it be?”

As Renamon began talking tactics, Alemana noticed movement in the nearby bushes. Something small, and spherical.

The blur of movement caused him to stop, and he would then motion to Mo’omon
“Hey, could you help him take a nap for awhile? I just saw something…”
While looking for Ike and Gazimon was important.. this seemed just as important.
“Hey, it’s okay! We aren’t gonna hurt you..” he then pulled one of the last pieces of fruit out of his digivice, kneeling and holding it out.

Despite the scene behind him - of Renamon putting the reptile digimon into a sleeper-hold, pinned to the ground - a small creature did approach Alemana and his offering of peace. It was like a pink plant bulb, its roots like tiny, featureless tentacles, whilst a vivid blue flower blossomed from its head. Just as vivid were its green eyes, which stared at the Al, and then at the fruit.

Al would smile at it, holding thr fruit out to the small creature.
“Hey there! I’m Alemana.. what’s your name little thing?”

Again, no attention was given to the scene of Renemon as she flexed her arm muscles, the hapless Mo'omon struggling to grab at her with its claws as it gasped for breath in tortured silence!
"Yokomon," said the flower bulb, its mouth reaching for the fruit.

“Well hi Yokomon!” And he would offer the fruit, also ignoring what Renamon was doing.
“What are you doing out here?”

AGAIN, no attention was given to the scene of Renamon grappling Mo'omon like a crocodile hunter as the reptile then fell onto the ground at mach speed as Renamon let go.
Instead, Yokomon ate and chirped.
"This is where I live," it said. "What's another human doing all the way out here?"

“Oh? This is a nice place you’ve got here..” he then tilted his head.
“Another human? Well that’s a coincidence.. I’m actually looking for them so I can help them get back home, safe and sound. Do you know where they are, Yokomon?”

"Well... I really shouldn't, but, you seem nice. I'll ask Kukuimon if it's okay. It should only take a minute."
"Kukuimon?" echoed Renamon, the vulpine entering the conversation despite keeping watch over the comatose Mo'omon.
"Be back soon~!" said Yokomon. Without waiting for an answer, the flower bulb closed its eyes as its tiny roots planted themselves in the ground. The blue flower on its head began swaying as the digimon hummed a gentle tune to itself...

Alemana would look back at Renamon, shrug, and sit down in front of Yokomon.
“I think we can wait a minute or two.. Ike and Gazimon are wily, I’m sure they’re fine!”

As Renamon and Al contemplated the other team's survival rate, they noticed a change come over Yokomon. Golden flecks of pollen took flight from its blossom, yet rather than spread out in a cloud, they flew in a single direction, glittering like stardust as they caught the light.

Standing up now, he would look at Renamon before then tentatively holding out his hand for her to take.
“Well.. let’s go?”

Hand-in-paw, the two followed the glittering pollen, leaving the clearing as they once again stepped into the growing fog. Somehow, even blinded as they were, they could see the pollen trail away. But it didn't end there. Somewhere just off the beaten path, another trail of gold rode on the wind, with the faintest sound of humming being heard. The further they went, the more trails of gold they saw, till the two were following a ribbon of flickering light. At one point, it led through a narrow gorge, yet upon reaching the other side, all signs of fog and mist were gone, replaced by the warm light of the sun as it fell upon a scene of white flowers.
"...Do you hear that?" asked Renamon, the vixen stopping in her tracks.
Upon her mentioning it, Alemana could hear something on the wind. In the background, there was the unmistakable sound of a waterfall, but more prominent was a voice. It was singing a similar tune to that of Yokomon's...

As they walked, Alemana kept a tight grip on her paw, as if her were afraid were he to let go, she would disappear into the mist forevermore. While he said nothing, Renamon could feel a faint anxiety emanating from her charge…it seemed her brief separation from him shook him more than he wanted to admit. Once they were free from the gorge, however, he breathed a sigh of relief.. but he then looked around- he could indeed hear it.
“Yeah I do.. what is it?”

Alemana recognized the song. It was a Hawaiian lullaby. Concentrating on it, he began to make out the lyrics...

His eyes widened, and he would then smile as he spoke aloud. “My grandma would sing this to me as a little kid..it brings back a lot of good memories. You can come out.. we’re cousins! I’m on your side.”

"Sounds like it's coming from up ahead," said Renamon. Leading the way, the two climbed up the hill. At its zenith, they found a glade where white petals lazily danced in the air, seeming never to touch the ground, instead fading from view only to reappear elsewhere. At its heart was a spring elevated above a wild garden of flowers and trees, fed by a waterfall no taller than Alemana, separate from the spring. Fortunately for him and Renamon, the two stood on an elevated section connected to this island by a natural bridge of stone.
From their vantagepoint, they could see more Yokomon surrounding the spring, alongside strange green bulbs topped with two-leafed sprouts. And at the center of this circle of swaying plant digimon, there stood a strange creature atop a large pile of blankets. Though Al couldn't make out the details, it sounded like it was the source of the singing.
Renamon gestured for silence as she led the way, the two crossing the bridge without trouble. Now closer, Alemana made out the singer's description. It looked like a piglet made out of green vine, its face covered by a mask made from the shell of a giant candlenut. Its feathery ears were made of said-plants leaves, whilst the petals of its flowers decorated its back. And on its left-foreleg, it wore a gold and black lei made from candlenuts.
"I can smile when it's raining
And touch the warmth of the sun
I hear children laughing
In this place, that I love~"

And Alemana would actually sit amongst the Bulb like digimon as they listened along, a smile on his face as he pat beside him for Renamon to join.

Smiling, Renamon obliged, sitting cross-legged as the strange piglet sang on.
"Mau loa ke aloha
I kō pu'uwai hāmama
He u'i lani oe
Na'u e mālama mau
Aia I ka la'i ē
Hemolele I ka mālie~"
As the final note drifted on the warm breeze, the piglet opened its blue eyes to stare back at Al and Renamon.
"Aloha," he said. "Did you like my singing?"

“Aloha, cousin. And yea I did. It reminded me of home.” Alemana said, smile still on his face.
“I take it you were the one who brought us here, right?”

The digimon nodded. "My name is Kukuimon," he said. "My tamer and I have been looking all over for you. We would have gotten here a lot sooner buuuut..."

“I knew it,” Alemana began smiling a bit more “I knew you guys got my message! And we would’ve gotten to you faster as well, but we suffered some set backs as well. But..” he then looked around.
“Where is your partner?”

As if on cue, the bundle of blankets Kukuimon was standing on top of began to shift, startling the piglet as he scrambled to get off in time. What arose from the blankets did so like a zombie, and for a second it looked like a pillar of long black hair stood face-to-face with Alemana and company.
"Hnnn? Who's talking...?"
A human hand then parted the wall of hair from the inside, pulling it away to reveal a girl of pale complexion, her eyes barely cracked open as she squinted. Her body froze, eyes shot wide open as she locked onto Al.
"A boy?!" she said, her accent unmistakably Hawaiian.

He saw the figure raise up, and he was about to greet her when her exclamation caused him to jump
“Ah-!”
He then collected himself after a moment
“Uhh.. Aloha..!”

"Malie, this it the human who was trying to contact us," said Kukuimon, the piglet then turning to face Al. "Mister... uh..."

“Alemana Sonson,”
He would then wave at her “Yeah, I sent you guys the message to try to meet up! And this is my partner Renamon, she’s been a huge reason as to why I’m even here in front of you right now.”

"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance," said the fox, wrapping her paw around a fist as she bowed.
The girl paused. "Oh... m-my name is Malie Kalama. Your name, are... are you Hawaiian, too?"

He would nod, grinning. “Yep! I’m from Hilo! Nice to meet you, Malie.”
-
"Um, nice to meet you, too," she said, trailing off, her forelocks once again covering most of her face. "Wait, you're from Hilo, too? S-so am I!"
-
“Wait, really?! That’s really cool! What school do you go to? Maybe we go to the same place!”
-
"I'm homeschooled," she said, relaxing her posture. "I used to go to Waiakea Middle School, but that was about a year ago."
-
“Oh? Well I just started there this year.. why did you leave?” He innocently asked.. before he then jumped to his feet
“Oh crap- Ike—“
He then apologetically Bowed his head a bit
“Sorry, I came here with the other kid I mentioned in that message, but we got separated. He should be fine.. but I’m worried something unforeseen might be happening. Do you.. wanna help me meet back up with him?”

Malie said nothing, her head bobbing slightly. Was she... snoring?
"Oh dear," sighed Kukuimon. "Not again."
"What's wrong?" asked Renamon.
"N-nothing," chuckled the masked digimon. He then began nudging the girl with his snout. "Malie? Malie?"
The girl snapped awake. "Huh?! What?! What did I miss?!"

Well.. maybe he got that answer then.
“Uh.. I just was asking if you wanted to help me save the kid who came here to find you along with me-“

"Save him?" echoed Malie. "Oh, are the Mo'omon after you, too?"
"They are now," said Renamon. "They seem to be taking orders from the Green Lady, meaning they're after any and all humans."
"They captured Malie when she first arrived," said Kukuimon. "She broke me and several other digimon out of their larder before they could eat us."

“A Woodmon tried to do the same to Ike and Gazimon .. well he won’t be trying that again. But yeah, I wanna make sure he doesn’t get turned into a side dish for those lizard boys.”

Kukuimon nodded. "The Yokomon and Tanemon have been keeping me updated with things going on in the woods," he said. "Someone reported seeing a human with a Gazimon, but since Mo'omon can shapeshift to look like others, we've been wary of getting too close."

They could shapeshift? Well.. they did have mo’o in their name.. it was pretty obvious in hindsight.
“Oh, I have a way to make that less of a problem.” He grinned, holding up the Digivice

"That's right," said Renamon. "The digivices can pinpoint each other's locations through the map feature."
"Wait," said Malie, the girl pulling out her own digivice, a coral-orange color. "You can scan through a Mo'omon's disguise, but you have to get close or it won't work."
"How close?"
"Arms' reach."

“Well that’s something we hopefully won’t have to use too often. The digivice pinging idea hopefully will be more useful.”
He then gave a more playful smile. “I’m curious.. can you two digivolve?”

"Kukuimon can," she said, pointing.
Kukuimon shuffled in place. "Well, yes, but I've only ever done it once."
"That's still more than Gazimon," noted Renamon. "Between the two of us, though, that should be enough, assuming the Mo'omon aren't hiding their own secret weapon."

He didn’t know why, but he felt relieved to hear that they at least had done so once. If that was the case, and Renamon was any indication, they should have no problem doing it again.
“Okay good, good.. and hey, look at if this way: they are Rookies, and our partners will be Champions.. the deck is in our favor. It doesn’t look like the other digimon can just Digivolve when they want to.”
He held out his hand for Malie to shake.
“So what do you say, wanna join forces?”

There was a long pause... then a telltale snore.
"(Malie!)" whispered Kukuimon, the piglet nudging his tamer again till she snapped awake.
"Huh? Oh! Yes, I agree!" she said, saluting.
"(You didn't even hear what you're agreeing too...)" lamented the pig.

Alemana would give an understanding smile
“I was just saying.. we should join forces!”

"Right," said Malie, softly pumping her fists. "Let's go skin some lizards."
Suddenly, one of the Yokomon present rushed from its spot in the circle. "Hey, we just got word about your friend!" it said. "They're making their way towards the glade, but are being chased by over a dozen Mo'omon!"
"Over a dozen?!" gawked Kukuimon

Alemana would look at the Yokomon in shock, and then look at Renamon, and then those two.
“Well it looks like we are gonna be in the thick of it sooner than I thought, come on!”
He would then motion for them to follow- though he had to admit.. her sudden change of demeanor caught him off balance

"What about us?" asked another Yokomon.
"Stay here and out of sight," said Renamon, the vulpine hurrying after Al. "We'll hold them off before they can reach the glade."
Kukuimon waited for Malie to safely cross the bridge before hurrying after the others, the girl having chosen to carry one of her blankets to keep wrapped around her as she ran.

And as they ran, Al would try to call Ike, hoping to make contact with him.
“Get ready to digivolve, Rena,” he said as he waited for the digivice to connect

Checking his contact list, instead of seeing Ike listed anywhere, all he found was a number for one "Iakopo Smith".
Booop... booop... booop...
"++Where the HELL've you been?!++" blasted in Al's ear as Ike's voice came through.

He wouldn’t even register his name - he only saw an I and a K and hit it.
“Long story, tell you later!” He barked back.
“Found the kid, we’re on our way to you! Prepare for fireworks!”

"++ELECTRIC STUN BLAST!!++" sounded in the background, followed by chirping noises that near turned to static.
"++I-am SO-going-to-MURDER you!!++" said Ike between pants.

The fear of the fog making it impossible to track Ike and Gazimon without the digivices' map soon proved irrelevant as the sounds of battle drew the tamers' attention. Renamon was able to pull Alemana to safety just a nearby tree collapsed!
"SABER CLAW!!" Snarled a Mo'omon, the reptile slicing clean through another tree as it charged out from fog-cover. Again, Renamon leaped out of the way, with Al in her arms.

“Woah! Thanks Renamon!” Alemana said as the landed.
“Be careful Kukuimon, Malie! They’re using the Fog!”
He then looked at Renamon
“Go, let’s do this!”
Setting him down, Renamon would adopt an almost boxer stance before springing forward, jabbing forward with a paw wreathed in foxfire
”Red Paw!”

The punch hit the Mo’omon right in his snout, and Al would cheer
“Follow it up! Knock out punch!”
Nodding, the fox would use the lizard as a springboard, flipping into the air as she threw two handfuls of leaves.
”Withering Storm!” and a swarm of golden flechettes soared towards Mo’omon!

Shaking its head after the impact of Renamon's punch, the Mo'omon managed to tumble out of the way of her second attack, the shimmering missiles impaling the ground and nearby foliage.
Now it was the lizard's turn. "SABER CLAW!!" it roared, charging the vixen with massive claws.

And Renamon would duck under the attack.
“That’s my girl!”

Hissing, the Mo'omon changed tactics, utilizing martial arts Alemana recognized as Lua. To its credit, the reptile was fast, but Renamon was just as good at blocking and dodging the various joint-locks and pressure point strikes it threw her way. Yet, once the reptile saw an opening, it struck with unrelenting force!

Renamon would continue to dodge and weave around Mo’omon’s blows, until Alemana saw an opening
“Body Blow! He’s open!”
The fox then smirked, side stepping a frustrated jab before countering with a blow of her own.

At first, it looked like she was going to follow up with a Withering Storm again when Alemana shouted:
“Don’t kill him!”
Renamon would then jump, aiming to kick him in the head instead

And kick she would. Even with the reptile's scaly hide, it could only take so many blows to the head before falling to the ground.
But neither Renamon nor Alemana had time to celebrate. As Kukuimon and Malie finally caught up, more shadows in the fog began to move in.
"Look out!" shouted Renamon. But rather than stop, Kukuimon lept into the air.
"MOLUCCA BOMB!!" he cried, spitting out a massive candlenut that arched into the air. On contact with the ground, a brilliant flash of light burst forth, near blinding everyone present. Fortunately, the fog lessened the impact... wait, the fog, where did it go? Just as confused were the Mo'omon who were now devoid of cover.

Not wasting time, he would shoot them a thumbs up. “Great job!” And he would then nod at Renamon, and she leaped over some of the dazed lizards

Taken by surprise, the Mo'omon hissed and snarled as they took the brunt of the vulpine's attack, her golden blades like radiant, new scales stabbed into their hides.

The two would look at each other, nod, and she would take a stance as he held out his Digivice, which began to glow reseda green.
“Renamon.. walk all over em!”
And she smirked, rushing the one furthest away from Malie and Kukuimon
”Red Paw!” as she attempted to punch it in its scaled face with a flaming fist.

“We aren’t done yet! Hit them all again! Set it up for Malie and Kukuimon!” Alemana said, running in a semi circle to get a better vantage of the situation. Despite himself, despite the danger.. he felt exhilaration.. or was it Renamon’s feelings feeding back into him? Either way.. this momentum they had been building up, the sheer frenetic energy of the fight itself had plastered a great big competitive grin on his face.
The vulpine would give a slight nod as she juked to the side, the other Mo’omon in her sights as she gave a smirk, fur rippling as if a gust of wind blew through it as she threw her leaves- suspended in the air, dozens of shards of autumnal light-
”Withering Storm!”

On the defensive now, the Mo'omon raced to evade the oncoming strike. Unfortunately, this left them exposed to yet another attack. This time from Kukuimon.
"MOLUCCA BOMB!!" he cried aloud, and this time the others shielded their eyes as another flashbang hit the scene, stunning the reptiles in yet again! But Kukuimon wasn't finished, for he hit the ground running, charging at the still standing Mo'omon that Renamon had punched moments ago. A valiant headbutt toppled the lizard to the ground, snapping it out of its stupor and driving it to flee for the receding wall of mist!

Even if the attack wasn’t successful on their end.. it fulfilled its purpose. Once the goons were stunned and blinded, Alemana called out to Malie and hopefully Ike.
“Okay, we’re turning up the heat!”
Renamon smirked ever so slightly at that, and as the digivice began glowing a bright white, her body became enveloped in flames and Digi-code.
”Renamon Digivolve to,”
The green-pink inferno swelled and shifted as it always did, billowing away from her as she assumed her larger, quadrupedal form.
”Kyubimon!”
She then saw those remaining Mo’omon and her tails stood at attention, grinning fireballs forming. Strangely enough.. three fireballs would leap off their mounts, and morph into green-pink bipedal fox creatures made of fire.. the eerie grins never leaving their faces.
”This should even the Odds a bit!”

"Fall back and regroup!" called one of the reptiles. Already, some of them were breaking off from the battle.
Others, however, we're only just beginning to fight. Rather than charge the great fox, four of them made to surround Alemana.
"MOLUCCA BOMB!!" cried Kukuimon, but this time, the reptiles shielding each other from the blast. One separated from the group to charge at Malie, only to be intercepted by her partner.

Three of the fire foxes would intercept the lizards, their creepy smiles growing even larger- malice from Kyubimon at the audacity of these simple creatures would try to attack HER tamer being expressed by the familiars. One by one, they would swipe at the Mo’omon with claws made of solid flame.

And Al would stay as in between his fox guardians as possible.. marveling at their coordination. “You got this Kyubimon!”

Though half of their number fell like chaff before the wind, including the one that faced the great fox herself, two managed to evade the fiery conjurations. "SABER CLAW!!" roared one as it attacked a familiar, and in its shadow its counterpart reached out to grab at Alemana.

Alemana ducked from attempted grab, and then ran to Kyubimon, climbing up on her back.
“Get him, Kyubimon! He’s being way to grabby!” But he then added “Again.. don’t kill any of them-“
Kyubimon’s lip curled, but she nodded and her tails would straighten out again.
”Withering Inferno!”, launching a billowing storm of fire at the lizard who tried to grab Alemana. And her familiars once again lunged to attack the others.

The would-be kidnapper was engulfed in foxfire, crying out as it fell to the ground. Only by Kyubimon's mercy did the fire dissipate as the Mo'omon rolled back and forth before falling unconscious. Meanwhile, seeing the lack of damage it had inflicted on the pyromorph, the Mo'omon that had struck the living flame dodged the counter attack, forced to take a defensive stance just to survive as yet another one of the familiars began tag-teaming it. Its luck would run out when the third familiar slipped in between her sisters to burn the side of its leg, the blistering pain enough to send the reptile into shock.
Suddenly, all was quiet. The mood of the battlefield had changed. The fog was reasserting itself as the still standing Mo'omon disappeared into the surrounding foliage.
Kukuimon threw another molucca bomb, keeping the fog at bay, at least around the four as they gathered close.
"That was spectacular!" said the piglet, almost jumping for joy. "I've never seen such tactical brilliance in all my life!"
"It's not over," said Kyubimon. "That was only half of their number. The rest will likely resort to guerilla tactics to make up for their losses."
"At least we know Kukuimon can disperse some of the fog," said Malie, clutching her blanket close. "But yeah, we still need to find your friends before it's too late..."

Alemana would let a smile cross his face for a moment, but he would nod as he gently pat Kyubimon’s neck.
“You’re right, we aren’t done. Can you make another of those foxes?” He asked, glancing at the remaining lizards.
Kyubimon nodded, another flame leaving her tails and morphing into a familiar. ”I am at my limit I’m afraid, four is all I can manage at one time.”
“No, that’s perfect Kyubimon.” Al responded, smiling as he scratched the ruff of her neck before turning his attention to Malie and Kukuimon
“I hate to say this, but we might have to divide if we want to conquer. Can I leave these guys to you while I go help Ike? You won’t be alone, two of these foxes will stay with you to back you guys up.”

"I'm not sure how to feel about that," whimpered Kukuimon, the very flammable piglet inching away from the familiars. When he turned to look at Malie, however, he saw that she had nodded off to sleep again. "M-Malie! Wake up!"
"I am awake," she said, smiling, her voice distant and relaxed.

“Hey don’t worry little guy, they won’t touch you!” Alemana said with a reassuring pat on the head
”Just be sure to stay away from them if they are dispersed, they will explode.” Kyubimon said in a casual deadpan
“.. Well I’m sure it’s gonna be fine-!”

"E-e-explode?!!"
"Kaboom~!" mused Malie.
As Kukuimon began to panic in place, Al's digivice began ringing. It was Ike.
"++WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU?!!++"

“Hey, hey it’s gonna be oka-“
And he would take the call, wincing “Hold on, we’re coming!”
“Okay gotta go, it’ll be fine you’re gonna do great bye-!”
And with a rush of wind, they were gone, taking the damaged familiar and another with them.. and the remaining two gave Kukuimon a respectfully wide berth

Riding atop Kyubimon, Alemana made even shorter work of locating Ike and Gazimon, as the great fox seemed to almost fly through the trees. When they found the pair, it was in a clearing riddled with holes... and strange plants. Only after getting closer did Al realize that the "plants" were Mo'omon buried up to their necks.
But Ike and Gazimon were far from safe. There, surrounded by their trapped opponents, they faced one that was bigger than any Al had seen, well over sixteen feet tall. Black were its scales, save for a vague red stripe down its back and tail. Armor over his shoulders and upper arms reminded Al of mo'o tikis, and metallic, almost cybernetic-looking goggles covered its eyes.
"ELECTRIC STUN BLAST!!" cried Gazimon, the chimera spewing a cone of electrified smog that covered a wide area. When it blew over the buried Mo'omon, they cringed, grunted and squirmed. But when it reached the giant lizard, it only slowed in its lumbering step by a second.

Alemana’s eyes widened, and he would look at Gazi and Ike
“Kyubimon, get closer and hit him from the side.. we gotta take that things attention off of those two!
She nodded and raced in a semi circle, before then charging at the large lizard.. a protective aura of fox fire engulfing both tamer and digimon
Foxfire Slipstream!” and thr pair shot forward like a green-pink meteor

The two familiars then stopped of either side of Ike and Gazimon, their stances defensive.

“Hey! Yeah you, you overgrown gecko! Why don’t you pick on someone your own size?!” He then whispered to Kyubimon “Figuratively-“
The Fox gave a playful huff before she then followed up with her favorite attack

And as she did so, he brought up the Digi Analyzer “What the heck are you.. besides big and ugly-“

The flame coalesced only to miss its mark. But by the time Kyubimon realized it, it was too late. Instantly, white vapor shot out from the mouths of the giant lizard's tiki pauldrons, spiraling around the creature in an acrid-smelling cloud.
"RIPTIDE PROTOCOL!!" Boomed the digimon, the nimbus firing outward to extinguish Kyubimon!
Alemana had only a moment to view his digivice as the scanner came back.

Alemana was thrown off of Kyubimon with a tail as she got caught in the first attack. Hitting the ground with a thud]

And then the second attack hit her

[Kyubimon is knocked back, then takes 7 damage -3 from Kapualeimon being Weakened and minus half Kyubimon's Armor rating and -1 from Dodge roll = 0 Damage?!]
"Duck!" yelled Ike.
That was the signal for when Gazimon fired off: "ELECTRIC STUN BLAST!!" This time, the attack seemed to have an effect, the vapor around Kapualeimon becoming electrified, stunning the beast!
EDIT: Kapualeimon's Riptide Protocol subtracts dice from your Accuracy equal to HIS BIT, so -3 to all your attacks.]

Alemana would duck just in time.. and would hurry over to Kyubimon, panic in his eyes. He then skid into the mud next to her.. gently shaking the fox.
“Kyubimon.. Kyubimon..!”
He then gave her a hug, looking to be on the verge of tears. “I’m sorry! I’m so sorry..! I shouldn’t have pushed you so hard, I’m a horrible partner, I- I..”
He then saw her eye staring at him, twinkling as if in amusement.
“I can’t believe it.. are you even hurt?”
She would roll upright, shaking her head.. and then he saw how her fur ruffled.
“No- wait wait wai-!” And then he was showered in muddy water as she shook herself dry.

Gazimon's ears perked up. "Heads up!" he said, snapping his head around. Pointing, the chimera revealed four Mo'omon that had entered the clearing from behind the tamers. Their sneak-attack foiled, they prepared to charge.
[Hokay, your turn, then team Mo'omon, then Ike. FIGHT!!]

“C’mon, the fight’s still on..!” And he wiped his face , the mud accidentally acting as war paint. He then climbed back into her, and then gave her nose a kiss
“Try not to scare me like that again?” He asked before he glanced at the four lizards
“They keep popping up like dang weeds..!”
And the two Familiars would run forward, while Kyubimon stretched .. stood up and twisted her tails together.
”Thirsting Dragon Wheel!” she then unfurled her tails , attacking the third with a flame dragon.

The Mo'omon unlucky enough to be on the receiving end of the dragon wheel collapsed to the ground, taking the flame square on! Its kin fared little better, though they were still standing. Saber claws swiped at the familiars in a flurry of strikes.

Flashing its teeth, Kapualeimon craned back its head and let out a roar that made the very earth tremble.

Alemana was about to cheer.. but he then clapped his hands to his ears from the sound of the roar

As Alemana heard what he could only assume was the digimon's "Dragon Roar", he managed to avoid panicking. However, there was a rising tension in his gut, like the attack had struck somewhere deep in the back of his mind, something primal.
[Alright, Dragon's Roar causes Fear. I'm not sure if you can technically dodge an auditory attack that does no mechanical damage. That said, Kyubimon suffers another -3 penalty to Accuracy to attack big liz, for a whopping total of -6 penalty.]

Al would then feel Kyubimon trembling underneath him, and he would pat her soothingly
“Kyubimon..?”’ He would then hug her neck… and she was shaking badly. What the heck was happening?

"Gaz? Gaz, snap out of it!"
Alemana glanced up from his partner to see Ike and Gazimon, the two still right where they had been at the start of the fight. Ike held his ground, but was pale as a ghost, looking down at his teammate.
"Gaz," he said, his voice barely heard over the footsteps of Kapualeimon's approach. "Do something!"
The chimera said nothing, his red eyes staring unblinking at the giant reptile even as they trembled in their sockets. In the shadow of the beast, staring death in the face, all he could do was watch.
A rumbling noise silenced the battlefield, but it wasn't Kapualeimon... it was coming from the opposite direction. Time slowed to a crawl as Alemana saw it pass by - like a hill of mud that had sprouted four legs and tusks!
"RAMPANT CHARGE!!" boomed a familiar voice, and as it did, the newcomer slammed headlong into the giant reptile, clashing mighty tusks with lizard claws!

Alemana would gasp as he saw the massive mass of mud, foliage, and tusks slam into the lizard.. and his worried expression slowly changed to realization.. and then hopeful grin- even more as he saw the two other fox-wife familiars run up, and he began to pet Kyubimon even more encouragingly.
“Look, we aren’t out of the fight yet! We can’t give up now!” And he gave her nose one more kiss before he looked at the familiars.
“Take those lizards out now!”
And all four sprung, attacking the three Mo’omon.

Already, Alemana saw a full picture of the strange digimon appear on screen. It showed a massive boar whose left tusk was decorated with a black and gold lei made from candlenut shells. Most of its body was covered in volcanic mud, but for bristling fur around it neck and back. White markings reminiscent of the Kukui flower painted on its legs, whilst a red 'auma'u fern leaf acted as its tail.

“Alright Malie! Not bad for a second Digivolution!”
He then tried to pull Kyubimon’s attention from the big lizard
“Kyubi.. I need you to hit that Mo’omon okay?” He asked in as gentle as a voice he could. Kyubimon would give a shaky huff of affirmation, and with seeming reluctance lifted one tail.
”Wailing Inferno,” her voice was barely above a whisper… which shocked him. And a single fireball flew towards the Mo’omon- her familiars backing away as it exploded into a larger gush of flame.

Long before the final ball of fire hit, Kyubimon's familiars had made charred meat of the Mo'omon. Now, unable to dodge, that fireball laid them sprawled across the ground.
All that remained, now, was Kapualeimon.
"W-we're winning!" said Ike, confidence creeping back into his voice. "We're winning, Gazimon! Now's our chance!"
The chimera snapped out of his trance, looking up at Ike before a glint shined in eyes. "R-right!" he said. "Leave it to me, boss!"
As Gazimon raced towards the battling Champions, Pua'amon continued to push at the giant reptile. More than once it looked like Kapualeimon's feet began rising off the ground, only for the lizard to push back hard.

While it seemed like her heart wasn’t in it, the attack nonetheless managed to knock out the Lizards with little difficulty, much to Al’s cheer of exhilaration.
“You did it! Now.. let’s help Ike and Malie take this big guy down-“
Even though the feeling of impending victory was in the air, Kyubimon dug in her feet, and seemingly refused to move forward.
“Kyubimon..?”
Her shivering wasn’t subsiding.. and in-fact she actually gave what sounded like a.. whimper? It seemed like whatever Kupualeimon did had severely dampened her fighting spirit.. damp.. Damp! That was it! He had to somehow rekindle her desire to take the fight to the big monster.. but how could he do that?
He glanced at his digivice.. and then the four familiars .. then Kyubimon’s dimly lit flames.. and an idea came to him.
“Hey, girls!” He then hopped off Kyubimon and pointed his digivice to the Familiars!
“We gotta fire Kyubimon back up and get her mojo flowing again! The way I see it, you all got a piece of her fighting spirit inside you, so I know you can help me kindle Her back into that inferno she’s shown this entire time! Are you with me?!”
Alemana’s digivice began glowing that same reseda green that it always did.. and the four summoned fox-wives began to flicker and shimmer.. unraveling into four vibrant balls of flame.
He then turned to face Kyubimon again.. holding up his lambent digivice.
”Keep fighting Kyubimon! You’re the greatest digimon ever.. this big lug’s got nothing on you! Let’s show our friends what we’re made of, right here. Right now!!”
The four flames hen coalesced into one large ball of fire, and then flew into Kyubimon, while a bright reseda green glow surrounded her body!
[[Spendinging two Inspiration and using the energy of those four familiars to try to essentially negate that -6 penalty and get her back into the fight!]

[Hmm... alright, I'll allow it. Penalty revoked. ;) ]
The combined power of Alemana's raw determination and Kyubimon's own essence cleansed whatever hold the giant reptile had laid down on her, bathing her in resplendent incandescence! And right on time, as Pua'amon stomped his hindlegs into the ground, and threw Kapualeimon several dozen feet into the air!
"Al!" shouted Ike. "Quick! Knock 'em down while he's up!"

“Right!”
He then looked at Kyubimon with a big grin and then pointed at the sky bound monster.
“Show him what you got!”
She regarded him silently at first..but would give a slight smirk as she turned her attention to Kupualeimon and then leapt into the air, intense flames enveloping her body as she seemed to turn into a blazing comet, rocketing towards him!
”Foxfire Slipstream!!”

[Helpless = Dehd]
Unable to block or even control its center of gravity, the giant reptile was sent hurtling back down to earth, like a meteor being ricochet by the comet that was Kyubimon. Yet instead of a crater, when Kapualeimon crash-landed, it was onto the fake roof of a massive pitfall! Gazimon climbing out of it and onto the lizard's belly moments later, throwing his claws up at Kyubimon as he cheered, hooted, and hollered!

As Kyubimon landed, and Alemana walked over to see the knocked cold Kapualeimon in the pitfall.. he would take a moment to take a few moments to catch his breath.. and then would pump both fists into the air.
“We did it.. we won!!”
And he would then run up to Ike, and pull him in for a surprisingly strong bro hug.
“Didn’t doubt you guys for a second! You and Gazi are super cool!”
And he looked up at Pua’amon
“And you.. your friggen huge now! That’s awesome! But.. where’s Malie?”

Both Ike and Gazimon were taken by surprise as Alemana hugged the former. Joy, however, proved contagious, as Ike returned the embrace with equal enthusiasm, almost dancing in place as tears began running down his face.
"BWAH HAH HAH!!" boomed Pua'amon, the giant boar's breath like a greenhouse. "Nothing like a good diet of greens and combat to get you growing, eh cousin?" Upon hearing Al's question, however, the pig grew quiet, his black eyes looking back the way he had entered the clearing from. "Hmm... about that. Malie's, well..."
Following Pua'amon's line of sight, Al turned and saw Malie crouched over one of the buried Mo'omon, still wearing her blanket like a cloak. Squinting, he saw she had a knife.
"I wouldn't lie to you," she said to the lizard, her voice soft and relaxed, yet so, so clear, even at a distance. "I've had a lot of practice at asking questions. They say you Mo'omon are tough to crack, but I say Mo'omon get super scared when you try to take off the front plate of their visors." She leaned in closer, her blade tapping on the now quivering lizard's visor. "It's okay to be scared," she said, smiling. "We're all a little scared... you'd have to be crazy not to be scared..."

Al gave his back a couple thumps as he then let Ike go, still grinning like a loon as he in turn pat Gazimon on the head. “Great job team! That’s how you get it done-“ and he would follow the boar’s nose to see Malie crouched over one of the Mo’omon
“Hey Malie! Your partner is really cool! Whatcha doing over there?” He asked as he jogged up to her.. but then he saw the knife, moments before he registered what she was saying to it. His stomach dropped. “What.. what the heck are you doing?”

The girl didn't respond, or even turn to look at Al. Just a gentle smile behind a curtain of long, straight hair. "I'm only gonna ask this once," she warned, "What do you know about the Green Lady?"
The Mo'omon, head pulling in every which way it could on its exposed neck, whimpered and struggled against the earth that held it captive. Even its brethren were trying to do the same, so terrified were they of Malie.
"Sh-she's just the one that hired us!" it blurted out, its comrades all nodding in unison. "I don't know anything beyond that!"
"Reeeeally~?"

Alemana would touch her shoulder, not enough to be overly forceful, but hopefully enough to take her attention off of the digimon.
“Hey, stop it! Renamon and I could’ve told you this already.. the Green Lady is super secretive! None of these guys even know what she looks like! C’mon, you don’t have to do this.. we beat these guys, the Green Lady will know that we aren’t gonna just roll over and let her catch us… we can make her come to us. But we don’t have to be like the Green Lady, getting what we want through doing messed up stuff! The Digimon who work for her see us like we’re bad.. evil. We have to show them that we aren’t monsters.. and we can’t do that if you’re gonna be cutting them up and hurting em after they’re already beat!”

As he was about to finish, Al's attention was drawn to Malie's knife as it caught the light. At first, the base of the blade appeared dirty. Up close, however, he saw black-brown spots covered the area. And the blade... it looked too shiny, even the edges looked rounded.
Still smiling, the girl turned to face him, pushing her finger against the tip of the knife till it made a clicking sound.
"Plastic," she said.
...Even Ike, Gazimon and Pua'amon, several yards away, could hear the Mo'omon all gawk in unison, with Malie giggling to herself.

Alemana would stand there for several seconds, mouth moving as he tried to come up with something to say. But after trying and failing a few times.. he couldn’t help but start laughing.
“And I thought having Renamon make them sneeze was the best option.”

Now it was Kyubimon's turn to laugh. No longer the quiet chuckle or hum of amusement, but open laughter. And as the Mo'omon sulked, or slept off their injuries, the tamers and their partners united in their jubilations. Another foe defeated and made humble. Before long, they would help Ike and Gazimon in burying the remaining Mo'omon up to their necks, leaving the strange "farm" for the Yokomon to tend to, the pink bulbs feeding the indignant reptiles bowls of seed and water.
"So where do we go from here?" asked Ike, he and Gazimon riding atop Pua'amon alongside Malie as Alemana rode Kyubimon.
"It's a long ride back to Kuku's from here," reasoned the great fox. "It may be best if we rest up in the glade tonight, but that might put the digimon that live there at risk if more Mo'omon show up."
"What's there to worry about?" asked Gazimon. "We mopped the floor with those goons, they'd be fuck'n nuts to try so soon after the first ass-whoopin'!"
"Gazimon," snorted Pua'amon. "Please, language."

Alemana would then address the Mo’omon as they were buried “You guys should know, if we had really wanted to we could killed all of you.. but we didn’t. Just something to think about when you all eventually dig yourselves up.” And he would climb up atop Kyubimon as the six of them then left.
“Kyubimon’s right about one thing.. Kuku.. well I mean Menehunemon.. it’ll take hours to get back to his place, maybe half a day depending on how fast we go and how many breaks we take. While I think Gazimon is being a little TOO gung-ho,” and he gave the grey creature a grin. “At least one night in the glade shouldn’t hurt. Besides.. I don’t know about you guys.. but I kinda wanna wash all this gunk off of me. It’s been like three days without a real bath for me..”
And he pat Kyubimon “And Kyubimon’s gotten super dirty the past couple days too.” He teased.

"I can't remember the last time I had a bath," said Ike, sighing.
"If it's a bath you need," said Pua'amon. "I know exactly who can help us."
...
"A bath? Sure! It's the least we can do after you helped protect the glade!"
Back at the spring, two bulbous, green sprout digimon met with the tamers and co. (though Pua'amon had to wait on the other side of the bridge due to his sheer size).
"We're Tanemon, by the way. Pleasure to meet ya!"

“Oh? Well let’s go!”

Alemana would look at the two Tanemon and smile “A bath would be very appreciated!”

"Hey," said Ike, looking over his shoulder. "Malie, right? Did you wanna go first or something?"
"I'm okay," she said, still wearing her blanket. "I bathed in it this morning."
"Do I have to?" grumbled Gazimon, arms folded. "What's wrong with my natural musk?"
"Dude, you do you. All I know is I got enough swamp-ass from crawlin' through jungles and tunnels. I'm taking a soak."

“Fair enough. Okay kyubimon.. let’s get you all cleaned up too. Can’t go back to Kuku looking like a stray dog right?” He asked, playfully petting her neck ruff

Smirking, the great fox bit down on the collar of Al's clothes, only to pull and send the boy flying into the spring.
The water was clear as crystal, even from beneath the surface. Cool enough to feel refreshing without being too cold. Upon resurfacing, Al was met with a wall of laughter by the others, with Kyubimon already dipping her paws into the spring to go after him. Coming face-to-face with her, Al saw her wiry smile as she leered at him, just as the great fox began licking his cheek.

“Hey, what’s that loo-“ and he gave a Yelp as he was thrown into the spring, and he would surface, spitting and sputtering before he glowered at his partner “Kyubimooon!” He would whine, but then he began laughing along with everyone else.. before freezing from the lick for a moment. “Hey stop.. my face is all dirty..!” He said between laughs.. splashing her a bit.

Kyubimon chuckled, responding to the boy's splashing by pouncing on top of him.

Eyes wide, Alemana could manage only a momentary “Aaa-“ before the horse sized fox pounced on him, and he went under..his hand clinging to her fur as he opened his eyes.. and almost teasingly blew bubbles against her nose!

The great fox would sneak another lick at her submerged partner before letting the boy resurface.
"Having fun?" she mused, sitting herself down as she let her nine tails sink into the water.
The two were interrupted when Ike cried "CANNONBALL!!" before drenching Kyubimon in the wave of his impact. Kyubimon's look turned from warm to deadpan as her now heavy-lidded eyes stared off into the distance.

And he would hug her neck for a moment before they surfaced.. and he would give a breathless laugh. “Well if you gotta know.. yeah-“ and he then gave a shout of surprise as he got splashed by Ike, and he would turn in his direction.
“Oh you wanna play like that huh?!” And then he would swim after the other boy, trying to splash him mid paddle

The other boy appeared to accept the challenge, swimming ahead of Al with nothing but his cargo-shorts on to slow him down. Kyubimon motioned to join in, but stopped on account of the pushbroom she felt going up her back. Indeed, a pair of Tanemon began scrubbing her while other Tanemon took care of the clothes Ike had left behind. Two more were busy shuffling Malie back towards Pua'amon, where they began fanning her to sleep with leaves almost as big as her partner's ears.
As for Gazimon, the chimera lay on his side at the edge of the water, resting his cheek atop his wrist as he casually scratched at his belly.

Alemana would see this.. and he would peel off his shirt and the jersey underneath it, tossing the waterlogged clothes in Kyubimons direction, along with his pants- though he nearly submerged himself trying to do so. “Here, take these please!” And then hr was off, in but his shoes and his basketball shorts- chasing Ike!

"Mmh~" said Kyubimon, not paying attention. Her eyes were closed as pink bubbles and suds began coating her back from the push-broom. Fortunately, Tanemon were there to float in and acquire the clothes, taking them ashore to join with the others.

It seemed like a narrow thing. Even with a head start, Ike was struggling to keep his distance from Al, then just when he felt it was safe to slow down, the blond was met with a splash of water the face, Sonson-style!

Alemana laughed, and out of habit of roughhousing with Kyubimon, he attempted to pounce on the blonde boy, in order to dunk him under the water. “Gotcha!”

Ike gasped as he went under, his outstretched hands scrambling to find Al's head as a torrent of bubbles rose to the surface. When that failed, he acquired a new tactic. Instead of fighting against Alemana, he dove with him. All a clever ruse as he grabbed Al by the legs and pulled them up! Tossing the taller tamer over his shoulders as he resurfaced!

This would trigger Alemana’s competitive nature , and the next few minutes would be filled with shouting, dunking , splashing , and laughing until eventually he was panting.. one arm slung over Ike’s shoulder as he supported himself in the water. And after a few minutes he then paused, rubbing his eyes as he got a good look at him without all the grime and the grease. His eyes were probably playing tricks on him.. but something seemed.. different.

Staring, Al saw Ike's hair wasn't merely blond. Without the kid's beanie, Alemana saw he had a darker shade of blond highlighting platinum. In this light, and at this angle, his mullet made him look almost like a girl.
"What?" said Ike, staring back at Al. "What? Got something on my face?"

It took him a moment to find what he wanted to say, and after realizing it would still probably sound really weird no matter what he said.. he would mentally shrug.
“Dude is it just me, or are you weirdly pretty? Like.. really pretty.”

The air was stuck in Ike's throat, his cheeks suddenly awash with scarlet-red as Gazimon burst out laughing.
"Sh-shut up!" he said, though whether it was at Al or Gazimon remained to be seen. Gazimon had no such compunction to obey, however, the chimera too busy hammering the ground to stop even if he wanted to.

Alemana’s face became just as red, As he held up a hand “I-I’m not saying that to make fun of you, it was a compliment-!”

Still blushing, the super blonde looked out of the corner of his eyes, away from Al. "Yeah, well... whatever, I guess," he said, shrugging. "Just came outta nowhere is all."

Al was still just as flustered, and he then gave a nervous chuckle
“Well it was kinda outta left field for me too. You definitely look much better when you’re not covered with gunk.”

Ike sank down to his shoulders. "Cool," he said, again he sank, this time down to his lips as he mumbled into the water. "(You too, I guess...)"

That made Al tilt his brow slightly, and he also sunk into the water to keep eye contact.
“Are you okay? Couldn’t make out what you’re saying.”

Ike sank down to his eyebrows, his muffled words coming out as bubbles.

And Alemana swam closer, trying to pull him up
“What are you trying to say, man? I can’t hear you!”

And so the trap was sprung, with Ike pushing off the bottom of the spring to capsize Alemana. Round two of their brawl had begun. All the while Renamon lay her head down over the side, letting a pack of Tanemon climb and scrub her with tiny brushes and paws. Gazimon cheered Ike from the shore, but was just as likely to laugh at his tamer when he made a mistake, but he would get his when Ike and Al ganged up and pulled him screaming into the water with them. Then it became a game of keep-away as the drenched chimera chased them back and forth across the spring. Through out it all, though, there was laughter, a chance to reflect, and above all, peace.
Little did they know about the chaos that was rising to consume them all. Defenses had been raised to cage the savage beast. Now, walls were being raised to corral and guide its path. Walls of invisible fire that neither wind, water, nor solid stone could force aside. But what protections are there that can hold against the chosen of a god?
